Ice Cream Sandwich

And the wait is over. The new Android firmware update for the Samsung Galaxy S2 is here for VodaCom, MTN and Cell C users! You can now download your Ice Cream sandwich update by plugging your phone into Kies and the update should be available.

I have received a few comment on another post where users said that they have received the latest ICS update on VodaCom. And then I’ve read on MyBroadband to confirm that the updates are available one the three cellphone networks. I’m not sure about 8ta or Virgin Mobile. So if anyone has received an update for one those networks, please comment on this post and I will update it.

So what are you waiting for. Plug in your phone and get the new Ice Cream Sandwich.

  • 20 May. Still no MTN update…

  • Still nothing 21 May – c’mon MTN

  • Still no update for my galaxy s2 and I am on cell c network. Have any others on cell c been able to update?

    • Hey. Yes. A friend who works with me got his Cell C update on Friday. Maybe it updates in some weird sequence or something. Keep on trying.

      • Hi, so it’s me again.

On Cell C network with the Galaxy S2 and it still says no update available… I have tried over the air upgrade and via Kies but still nothing. I’ve even formatted my phone and still no update. Does anyone have any clue as to what i can do to upgrade my phone… This is killing me day by day… Please help!

  • Just showed update available via Kies for MTN S2… Finally!

  • I see the update is out for MTN in my KIES but it is not allowing me to download. Gets to 2% and says that there is an error in the file, then closes. My phone is undisturbed and plugged in the whole time

    • Hey. Maybe it’s because everyone’s trying to download now at the same time. Maybe the server can’t handle the traffic.

  • Hey there just wanted to make sure and confirm, i officially just received the firmware update from vodacom… Upgrading to ICS in a few minutes!!!! Yay!!!!! :)

  • Hi.

My phone told me some time last week and again this afternoon that there is an update for my phone. I download it over the phone (without Kies) but after both times the phone reboots, says installing firmware….gets to around 40 % and then reboots and says failed to install firmware :( I don’t have access to internet on my PC without using my cellphone. So stuck in a catch 22. Any ideas?
    P.S. I am on Vodacom

  • Kies says update *yay* but as above 2% then dies. *looks for error 37* :-P

  • Hey guys my phone had the update, i installed it and am now a happy ICS user….. Maybe try doing it without KIes?? I have wifi so it worked better that way for me….

  • Hello…

So, I just picked up my new, shiny S2…and am very frustrated as I can not update it to ICS. I am on vodacom, and every time I click on Software Update, it says that there aren’t any updates available and when plugged into my mac through Kies, it says that my firmware is the latest one…

    Help…anyone?

    • Hi Marko, I get the same thing. You been able to sort out your GS2 ICS upgrade on Vodacom yet?

  • hi there does anyone know when ics will be available for the samsung galaxy tab 7.0 plus (p6200)……..
